With a background as a graphic designer for 25 years, the path to the art world was short, but my work as a visual artist did not start until 2000. That same year, I had my first solo exhibition at Galleri Arto in Toensberg, Norway. Since then I have had a large number of solo and collective exhibitions around Norway.

This exhibition presents a series of works in which motifs emerge through layers of fragments, structures and visual traces. Sometimes these fragments gather into hints of a face, other times they dissolve into landscapes, patterns or abstract surfaces. Common to the works is an exploration of how wholeness arises – and breaks down.

The images are constructed as visual maps. Grids, organic forms, drawing and painting are woven together in complex compositions where each field carries its own rhythm and narrative. Elements can be reminiscent of cartography, notes or traces of previous actions – like stored moments, experiences and places.

In “Fragments of You”, identity is not something fixed or unambiguous. It appears as something complex, moving and at times incomplete. The works invite the viewer to look for connections, recognise forms and create their own connections between what is visible and what is only suggested.It is in the span between control and dissolution that the works find their energy. The structure holds the image together, while the fragments pull it in different directions. The result is a quiet intensity – a space where the personal and the universal merge into each other.

“Fragments of You” does not point to one specific “you”, but to many. Perhaps it is a mirror, perhaps a landscape of experiences – or perhaps something in between.
